These boots are made for walking!
As usual, my week included its fair share of walking. It’s been muggy, stormy and grey much of the week but, undeterred, the boots have come out.
Whitby is a little tacky, like many a tourist town, but it has an endearing quality, and is everybody’s choice of the place to go for fish and chips.
You can take a Vintage Steam Bus tour, or sample some of the quirky shops.
Now you might think the boots would be tired, but my Thursday Nordic walking group think differently. By complete contrast, we’re off to the Tees Barrage next.
The Barrage dams the River Tees, and there’s often a playful seal in the water, looking for company. This morning, the White Water facility is in use by the lads from the fire brigade, doing their fitness training. After a pause to admire, we follow the river bank to the Infinity Bridge. There are foot and cycle tracks on both sides of the river, and damp runners and cyclists pass us by. (just a bit more rain)
Time to hang up my boots for another week. Come out with me next time? I’m sure Cate, of Show My Face, will be my generous hostess again on Six Word Saturday. Follow the links to join in, or view my previous posts on the button.

Such dramatic pictures! I love this peek into another world.
I guess it’s “variety is the spice of life” with this one, Naomi. Thanks for visiting my world.
You must have walked right past the campsite where my pal Vicky stayed last month – link here

I think she had slightly different weather though …..
Certainly did! I just checked in to say hi to Vicky. Went to Robin Hood’s Bay on a previous 6WS, so sent her the link too. There’s a Mouseman museum in the village of Kildale which features the mice she was talking about.
Hi Jo,
How lovely to look at your photos, some happy memories re-kindled again.
I’ve seen the museum website, really must go and have a look next time I’m up that way.
Hiya Roughseas,
Thanks for pointing Jo to my blog, which in turn has brought me here.
Thought it was an interesting contrast to your pix
I am in love with the weather in the pictures. Want to switch? I don’t mind being away for the sun for a while!
Absolutely! Good job I have drip dry skin. It was bouncing again just 10 minutes ago.
I´ve never been to Whitby…and having seen these photos, I really need to rectify that!
I think it must be bus trip time again! We’ll take Elaine along.
Great views from your walk. I haven’t been to Whitby – I think I will have to add it to my list.
The cliff tops and the Abbey are lovely (you have to like steps a lot!)
You didn’t meet Dracula in Whitby?
Love that bridge.
I gave the churchyard a wide berth, Tilly!
Beautiful. Thanks for bringing us along. Geat photos, all, but I esp like the bridge!
Me too, Ron. Thanks for coming!
What a lot of energy you have. Wonderful pictures – yes that bridge is just gorgeous.
I love it, Viv. Feeling tired today- I wonder why?
Looks like a fabulous walk!
Certainly was! Thanks Heather.
This is a town I would like to walk around in.
Yes, it has some very interesting nooks and crannies, and wonderful architecture, Colline,
Thanks for the tour! Great pics.
Elisa
It’s what Saturday’s are for! (especially rainy ones) Thanks Elisa.
I love the tour. I could see myself sitting on that rock in the first picture if it’s not too dangerous.
BE ENCOURAGED! BE BLESSED!
Better take your water wings, or hold on tight Francine!
I guess that’s not a good idea to sit there. (smile)
And what a walk that was…Well done!
Thanks Wayne. Fit to drop!
I enjoyed taking this walk with you. Yes, the bridge is magical.
All are welcome! Thanks for your company Lynne.
That was a nice distraction from our dry, hot summer. Thank you!!
It’s pitch back and the rain thundering down for about the 10th time today, Ann. Doesn’t seem to be any balance, does there?
I Love that dress shop! and if I lived around there I’m not sure I would be able to keep my boots locked up either!!!
My daughter’s a former Goth, Brenda, and every Spring and Autumn they have a Goth Festival in Whitby. You can buy all manner of costumes and fabulous garments, or just turn up and be “gobsmacked” by the outfits on the streets!
Beautiful coastline and that bridge is something else.!
I took shots from all kinds of angles, David. It simply astounds me.
You can’t tell me those boots aren’t worn straight through! Great photos. The bridge is special and the shot with the traps is super. All really nice, Jo.
Funny you should mention that- I do seem to go through boots at an alarming rate! Thanks Gem.
love walking with you jo!
We’re a happy band of walkers, aren’t we? So much to see and appreciate.
Looks like a great place to be walking. The shops look very quaint and oldworldly – probably adds to the charm I would imagine
It gets very busy sometimes, but you can always retreat to the cliff tops.
Love where those boots are walking…great photos!

Thanks Susie!
A great way to feel inspired today. Beautiful images of the harbor, the cliff and everything seascape. Thank you for sharing these amazing photos. Wishing you and your family all the best.
Thanks Mr. B! You’re always welcome on my travels and thanks for your kind RT.
What a fun post! I really like the shops, too. It looks like a great place to explore…
It’s knockout when the Goth Festival’s in town, Meg! You’d love it.
Those first cliffy photos looked like they were taken on a fresh and invigorating walk. I agree with you about the bridge, it is magical, I’d love to see it myself.
It was a strange day Lorna- overcast and muggy, but at least it didn’t rain, unlike the Tees Barrage walk. The Tees can’t get much fuller!
Beautiful photographs you captured dear Johanna, I love to walk there through your photographs
Thank you for taking me a journey from my desk… Love, nia
Got to leave that desk behind as often as you can, Nia! Problems with my WP Reader. Will pop over to yours next.
Now, I would go walking if I had that “Shepherd’s Purse” shop near me!!
Smile xx
This was wonderful to wander around with you.
Thx for introducing us to these lovely places
Thanks for the pleasure of your company, Rosa.
Love your favourite shot. What gorgeous landscape Jo. Would tempt the laziest lout to put on those shoes!
Lazy? You, Madhu? I don’t think so! Let’s go hike together.
Wonderful variety of shots, great post, thanks for sharing.
Glad you enjoyed it Sally Ann. Thanks for reading.
Thank you for the beautiful walking tour! Great pics!
Very welcome Amy. So glad you could come along.
